About the Company

AG Transfer LLC (“the Company”) operates a transload facility in Minneapolis, MN, managing the loading of bulk grain products into shipping containers . At the yard located in NE Minneapolis, the Company operates a fleet of semi-tractors, yard hostlers, and other heavy equipment used for daily operations within the yard. Ag Transfer is looking for a motivated Yard Driver with a great attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to work in a small team environment.

Job Description

The Yard Driver position will operate yard trucks (hostlers) to move and position large shipping containers for loading and pickup at our facility, and will help operate loading equipment and scales to ensure the proper weights are loaded into each container. Yard Drivers will be responsible for accurately entering container numbers and weights on paperwork and online, assist with the unloading process of inbound hopper trucks, and work well as part of a small team to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines.

Additional responsibilities may include installing cardboard bulkheads prior to loading containers, performing general maintenance on equipment, maintaining proper inventories of supplies, and assisting with the daily upkeeping of facility grounds. Employees will be expected to learn and follow safety policies and procedures at all times.

This is a full-time position. Start time may vary and can range from the early morning, 5am to 6 am ending later afternoon to early evening, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime work available on weekends. Overtime paid at 1.5 times pay rate!

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be dependable to arrive at an early start time.
• Willingness to be trained to safely and efficiently back trucks and trailers into position.
• Knowledge of basic safety practices and a willingness to be cross trained on all functions at the facility, and adherence to safety policies and procedures of the facility.
• Prefer experience driving yard trucks or related equipment.
• Able to accurately document container numbers and related data.
• Good interpersonal communication skills to work as a team.
• Strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and consistent attendance.
• Must be able to physically climb up and down transloading equipment and ladders safely.
• Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and maintain balance throughout the day.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, and sub-freezing temperatures.
• Ability to carry fifty (50) pounds.
• Good hearing and hand-eye coordination.
• Must pass a background check.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive pay based on experience, starting at $19.00 /hr.
• Full-time employment with 40 hours and overtime available within limitations.
